Karate Christmas Camp 2018

This is our first time hosting Christmas Karate Camp.  We are having some new themes which are Fortnite, Wreck it Ralph and Beyblade.  Camps start in the week of Dec 17, Monday and end of Jan 4, 2019.  Don't miss it.

Karate Sparring Competition on Jan 20, 2019

Dear Parents,

It is my pleasure to announce the hosting of karate sparring competition.  Please find details below:

Date: Jan 20, 2019, Sunday.  
Time: 1:00 to 6:00 pm
Location: Gym, South Island School, 50 Nam Fung Road, Hong Kong (Google Map)

Besides our students, I am also inviting a few affiliated clubs to send in their students to participate in this event.

It is a non contact sparring competition.  Competitors will be wearing helmets, sparring gloves, chest protectors and foot pads.  Rules and regulations are based on World Karate Federation competition rule book.  Referees are qualified by Hong Kong Karate Federation.  Competition categories are as follows:

6&7 years old boys (junior)
8&9 years old boys (junior)
10&11 years old boys (junior)
12&13 years old boys (junior)
8&9 years old boys (senior)
10&11 years old boys (senior)
12&13 years old boys (senior)

Thank you for attending the grading test on Sep 30, 2018, Sunday.  I know it was not a perfect location but I really appreciate your attendance.  This is the first time I use a score form to evaluate students' techniques and overall performance.  I believe this will help students understand what areas they are good at and what areas they need more work on.

Sunday Karate Trainings

It is my pleasure to see everyone is being dedicated in their karate training.  Many students are showing interest in learning sparring and plan on competing in local and overseas competitions.  Therefore, I am announcing there will the additional Sunday classes in Aberdeen Sport Center and Stanley Sport Center.  Students will spend quality time to work on their karate basic and kata.  In additions, they will be working on different sparring drills and of course they will have plenty of time to spar.

It is my plan to host a sparring competition on Dec 2, 2018.  If all goes well, I will invite my karate affiliates to bring their students to compete in this competition.  It will be a fun and challenging event for our karate students.  Therefore, these Sunday training are definitely needed for preparation of the competition.

Karate Spring Promotion 2017

Soke Cup 2017 - Chito Ryu Karate International Championship

Soke Cup is the tri-annual championship of the International Chito Ryu Karate Federation.  This is a competition of Chito-Ryu practitioners from all over the world.  Soke Cup presents us all with a unique opportunity to extend both our competitive and cultural horizons in an environment of friendship and understanding.  

Soke Cup 2017 will be held on Aug 12 and 13, 2017 in Kumamoto, Japan.  There are Kata (form) and Kumite (sparring) competing events for members of 6 years old or above.  Deadline for registration to Soke Cup is May 31, 2017.  You are required to attend special trainings if you plan on competing in Soke Cup.  

You are suggested to arrive on Aug 9 or 10 to settle down and then leave on 15 or 16.  There will be seminar on Aug 14 (Monday).

Karate Grading Test - Mar 19, 2017

After many lessons of hard work, it is about to challenge yourself for the next belt rank.  The march grading test date and details are set as follows:

Date: Mar 19, 2017 (Sunday)
Time: 2:00 to 3:30 (Beginner)
           3:30 to 5:00 (Intermediate and Advance)
Grading Fee: $300 per student (please bank transfer to HSBC 808-108526-001 or send by the app PayMe)

In order to get you fully ready for the grading test, I am offering the additional classes on Sundays:

Dates: Mar 5 and 12, 2017

Tanaka Sensei Karate Seminar 2017

I am very excited to announce that Tanaka Sensei (Chito Ryu Karate 6th degree black) will be visiting Hong Kong from Jan 19 to 23, 2017.  Tanaka Sensei is a very experienced karate instructor who have traveled a lot to different countries including Hong Kong giving seminars.  Due to work commitment, Tanaka has not been able to come until this month.

Seminar schedule will be as follows:

6:00 to 8:00 pm - Advance

Tanaka Hiroshi Sensei was born in 1964.  He began Chito Ryu Karate training at his young age in Chito Ryu Sohonbu (headquarter) in Kumamoto under O-Sensei (founder of Chito Ryu Karate).  Tanaka Sensei was a 3 time international champion for Chito Ryu Soke Cup and many more championship titles.

Hiroshi Tanaka Sensei

Having a strong passion in karate and coaching.  He was a full time karate teacher in Kumamoto for many years.  Besides, he was also teaching many international clinics and training camps.  It is our privilege and honor to having Tanaka Sensei teaching us again.

Naoyuki Chitose Sensei Karate Seminar 2016

To further enhance the knowledge and technical standards of our students, I am glad to invite Naoyuki Chitose Sensei to conduct seminars for our karate students.  Details of the seminars are as follows:

Naoyuki Chitose is the son of Soke Sensei, the supreme instructor of Chito Ryu Karate and the grandson of O-Sensei, the founder of Chito Ryu Karate.  Chito Ryu Karate is a family tradition and it is your privilege to be part of their family tradition.  Chitose Sensei has been learning karate since young age from his father, Soke Sensei.  He is a key instructor of the Chito Ryu Karate headquarter.  He has been to many countries hosting karate seminars.  This is his first time giving our Hong Kong students seminars.

I strongly encourage you participate in this event.  You will certainly be learning something unique from him.  Think of some questions to ask him during the seminar.  Please kindly enroll as early as possible.  Let me know if you have further questions.

Grading Test - Dec 6 and 13, 2015

Thank you for enrolling your child/children to Chito Ryu Karate this term.  I am so glad to see the effort everyone put in.  The quarterly grading tests are scheduled on:

Dates: Dec 6 or 13, 2015 (Sunday)
Time: 4:30 to 6:00 pm
Location: Room B, 18/F, Prosperous Commercial Building, 54 Jardines Bazaar, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.  (Google Map)

There is a grading test fee of HK$300-.  You can pay by cash, cheque or bank transfer.

Please remember to bring your:

1. Karate uniform;
2. Karate pants;
3. Karate belt.

Make sure you know what you need to be tested on and be fully prepared.  If you are not sure, please ask me in class before the grading test.  Please come and attend extra lessons in the next few days.  More practice is always necessary.

The video will show how to put on your karate uniform the correct way.  Please watch and then practice at home.  It is important.  Uniform and belt must be tidy and correctly done.  This trains your patient, focus and attention on details.

Summer Karate Camp 2014

Summer is closing by and it is time to plan your summer camp and activities.  This year, Chito Ryu Karate is running summer camps with 5 different themes.  Each day, besides learning karate,  there are plenty of other activities and games.  Kids will stay active, have fun and play.  It is a camp you have never tried before.  Come join us this summer.

Summer Karate Schedule 2014

Summer is just around the corner.  Please reserve time to train karate in July and August.  I have made some changes in the schedule.  I have added two Black Belt Boot Camps on Monday and Wednesday at 4:30 to 6:00.  Black Belt Boot Camp is for those students who want to train extra hard and get prepared for their future black belt grading test.

Please also pay attention to the dates when there is no karate.  I will be away for some days.

Grading Test on Apr 6, 2014

Thank you very much for enrolling karate with me.  I am very glad to see the hard work and improvements of my students over the last few months.  This coming Sunday, April 6, 2014 is the day of their grading test.  Please remember to come.  I will see you in the Causeway Bay studio.

As many of you have been skipping for the Rugby 7s, please come to classes this week to do some major catch up training.  I would all of you to be in the best shape in your grading test.  See you then.

Karate Kids on 18 Jan 2014

Kids are working very hard in their Shiko Tsuki (horse stance punch).  Shiko Dachi (horse stance) is the foundation for all other stances.  The stronger your stance, the stronger your techniques become.
